CANADA WIDE FILIPINO HERITAGE MONTH

CELEBRATIONS

Historical & Legal Context: Motion 155, known as “Filipino Heritage Month” was first introduced in  the 1st Session  of the 42nd Parliament and subsequently  “Placed on Notice” on November 20, 2017. “ It was then "Placed on the Order of Precedence” on June 4, 2018 and “Debated”  twice on October 1 & 25, 2018. It was in October 30, 2018 when finally a decision made/agreed to by parliament to "Adopt" the motion. Since November 30, 2017 until March 19, 2018, there were a total of  19 Members of Parliament recorded as Seconders to the Motion.

...What a better way to recognize the contribution of the Filipinos to the Canadian Society than to designate the month of June as Filipino Heritage Monthacross Canada. The rest is history!
